Timmendorfer Strand|History Facts & Figures

Timmendorfer Strand and Niendorf are quite young, though the latter was formerly a bathing resort for celebrities of the time. Emanuel Geibel’s house can still be seen, Wilhelm Raabe was a guest, and the famous ‘heath poet’ Hermann Löns also enjoyed bathing in Niendorf. Nowadays it is bards like Udo Lindenberg and his crew, the ‘Fantastischen Vier’ and Yvonne Catterfeld, actors like Armin Müller-Stahl and Peter Lohmeyer, sports personalities like the Klitschko brothers or Heike Henkel, footballers like Manni Kaltz and the world beach volleyball elite who cavort in the waves.
